What is the difference between Mickey Joseph having no head coaching exp vs Ryan Day when he took over OSU?

The current coaching search for a new head coach has obviously got every fan pulling for different head coaches. Me personally I’m a MJ fan but I see why others can go want someone else in there as the next head coach at Nebraska. However, it irks me every time I see someone say “he has no head coaching exp that means he doesn’t deserve it.” But Ryan Day was never a head coach before taking over at Ohio state and he is currently 41-4. What’s the difference?

•Meyer left Ohio state in an amazing spot for Day to take over and continue to win which he did and continues to do.

•Scott Frost left MJ with a dumpster fire and MJ looked at it, and accepted the challenge to try to fix things in the time he has to make the team better than it was. Which in my opinion he has.

If you don’t like MJ as a head coach that’s fine, just quit using “he has no head coaching experience” line as your main reason. Every coach has to start somewhere, and if his can be at Nebraska where he is already building a culture, why not continue with him?
