Wan’Dale Robinson, Scott Frost, and the state of the program

Some people are upset because we are losing our most explosive and dynamic playmaker, but I’m more upset about the reflection of the Husker football program. Regardless of the nature of Wan’Dale’s decision, his potential on this squad was never realized because of massive coaching failures.

Frost has shown himself as a capable recruiter, shooting for athletes that fit in to his up-tempo “system”. But there is nothing in these past three years that shows he is capable of implementing his system with players that he inherited OR the players he has recruited. Frost, to me, has not displayed the attributes of a good coach. Where is the culture shift? He gets a win and suddenly a weight is lifted and that’s good enough for him. There’s no “on to the next week”, it’s more “thank god we actually won a game, that’ll satisfy me for the next 3 weeks”. What sort of work is being put in to improve any aspect of the offense? The snaps still suck, the QB can’t throw a ball, and the playcalling is still dogshit. What good is a talented player like Wan’Dale in this system?

Scott Frost is not a good coach right now, and he might not have ever actually been a good coach. There is no evidence that this program has moved forward in the past three years, and I feel worse about the state of the program than Riley’s final year.

HOWEVER, that’s not to say that Frost can’t become a good coach. I’ve seen it thrown around that Frost is still “learning”. But if we are hiring coaches that are “learning” and haven’t seen any progress in 3 years, that reflects incredibly poorly of us as a program. His constant deflection of blame or responsibility doesn’t do him or his players any good.

Any indication that Frost is the person for this program is out the window right now. I’d love to sip any Frost kool-aid you can throw at me.
