Taking courses with AP credit

At UNL, if I submit and receive AP credit (ex AP Calc AB) can I still take the Calculus 1 class? Or does UNL force students to take Calculus 2?

I am asking because most med schools don’t accept AP courses and I will need to take Calc, Bio, Physics, etc several more essential courses that I scored well on the AP exam. Ideally, I would like to receive AP credit to go toward class standing purposes but also be able to take the course equivalent as an undergrad.

Anyone have experience with this? I’ve asked my area recruiter a few times and he deflects without a direct answer. Even when I have asked who at UNL I can talk to to find out he says I will be told everything during my advising appointment. Which of course by then would be a moot point since I would like to know before I commit.
