The Huskers will lean on experience this weekend. Four upperclassmen – Will Marshall, Caleb Badura, Gentry Scheve, and Reed Malleck – have competed in a total of 132 rounds in their careers. Marshall and Badura both competed in the Seahawk Intercollegiate in 2022, where Marshall finished 32nd which placed him first among Huskers. Badura 82nd despite a first-round DQ.

Quinn Yost (Farmington, N.M.), the lone freshman in the lineup, holds a 75.33 stroke average through 11 rounds in 2022-23. He last competed at The Prestige in Palm Springs, Calif. Feb. 20-22.

Caleb Badura (Sr., Aurora, Neb.) and Gentry Scheve (Jr., Emporia, Kan.) both have competed in one event for NU this season but will be making their return to the lineup this weekend. Badura finished 0-2-1 at Big Ten Match Play on Feb. 3-4 and Scheve finished T-91st at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate (Sept. 23-24.)

Huskers Look To Build On Past Experience

This season, he has already surpassed his career high in rounds played (17) and holds a stroke average of 74. Marshall, along with Caleb Badura, competed in the Seahawk Intercollegiate in 2022. Marshall finished in a tie for 32nd, highlighted by a first round 71 (-1). Badura also posted a 71 (-1) in the second round, but a first-round DQ led him to an 82nd place finish.

Last Time Out

The Huskers finished with a 54-hole score of 903 (291-316-296) to finish in 11th place among 16 teams at the Desert Mountain Collegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz. March 4-5. No. 22 Mississippi State took the team title, aided by a first-round 283 (-5), the best team-score for one round throughout the entire tournament.

Reed Malleck (Jr., York, Neb.) set two career-bests to lead NU. Along with a career-best 69 (-3) in the first round, his finish of 28th beat his previous high of T-34th, which he set at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational (Oct. 30, 2022).
