The Nebraska basketball team fell to the Purdue Boilermakers 81-62 Saturday night. The Huskers have now lost seven straight games.

Nebraska wound up losing by nearly 20 points, however they kept the game close for the majority of the contest. The Huskers trailed by just one possession by the halftime break, 33-31.

To begin the second half, Nebraska’s junior forward Isaiah Roby was able to tie it up 33-33 to keep things interesting, but Purdue’s Carson Edwards torched NU for 27 points to help the Boilermakers secure their eighth win in a row.

“I think the kids played with a better purpose tonight,” Nebraska basketball coach Tim Miles said. “No doubt this was a positive step.”

The team certainly played with energy and effort, but it wasn’t nearly enough to find the win.

Tom Allen provided a burst off the bench, dropping 18 points, hitting 5-6 of his shots from beyond the arc in an inspired performance but was ultimately unable to help lift his slumping team to a victory.

“Tom Allen was terrific tonight,” Nebraska head coach Tim Miles said. “That was great. We need it. We need it from all those guys.”

The Huskers improved their FG percentage from last week, shooting 38.2% from the floor. However, Nebraska was outrebounded 39-24.

The Huskers have no choice but to regroup. For their next game, they’ll take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Wednesday, February 13th. Pregame coverage will begin at 7 o’clock on KLIN.
