Husker Wrestlers Honored at Annual Banquet



The Nebraska wrestling team held its postseason banquet at the Devaney Center on Friday, April 14. Several Huskers took home individual awards, while the entire team was honored for its accomplishments during the 2022-23 campaign.

Five-time All-American Mikey Labriola (174) received Nebraska’s Most Valuable Wrestler Award following his second-place finish at the NCAA Championships. The senior from Easton, Pa., went 30-2 during the 2022-23 season, which included a 14-0 record in conference competition.

Junior Peyton Robb (157) was named the Most Courageous Wrestler after his battle through medical complications after the NCAA Championships. The three-time All-American finished this season with a 28-4 record and a second-place finish at the Big Ten Tournament.

All-American (141) Brock Hardy was named the Most Improved Wrestler after his sixth-place performance at the NCAA Championships. Hardy finished his redshirt freshman year with a 30-8 record and made the All-American podium for the first time in his career.

2023 Big Ten Champion, Silas Allred (197) was named the Most Dedicated Wrestler. Allred tallied 28 wins this season and recorded three-straight victories at the Big Ten Tournament to finish atop the podium.

Freshmen Antrell Taylor (157) and Jacob Van Dee (125) captured Redshirt of the Year honors. Taylor finished the season with a 5-3 record and placed fourth at the Navy Classic. Van Dee recorded his first career ranked dual win against NC State this season.

Seventh-year graduate student and All-American Liam Cronin won the Lifter of the Year award. Cronin wrapped up his college career with a 75-50 record and concluded his final season with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships.

Following the team awards presentation, the seniors spoke about their careers at Nebraska. The banquet ended with Head Coach Mark Manning looking ahead to the 2023-24 season.
