Crockett Finishes 3rd at Purdue Invite

West Lafayette, Ind. – Harry Crockett finished his record-setting two day run with a 67 (-5) in his final round to place third individually at the Purdue Invite in West Lafayette, Ind. on Tuesday.

With the effort, Crockett set career bests in multiple categories. His 54-hole score of 213 smashed his previous mark of 222 set at the William H. Tucker Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico Sept. 23-24.

Additionally, his final round 67 (-5) beat his previous career best of 70, which he set at the Badger Invite in Verona, Wisc. on Sept. 12. His stroke average of 72.20 through eight rounds has him on pace to break the stroke record by a sophomore, which is held by Josh Madden (73.58; 1997-98).

Crockett’s run helped Nebraska push up the leaderboards to finish fifth overall out of 15 participants. This marks Nebraska’s second top-5 finish in three efforts this fall season.

Tennessee ran away with the overall title, with a stellar 286-277-293 to finish -8, 12 strokes ahead of the second-place team LSU, who put up a +4. Nebraska finished with a final stroke count of 295-293-295=883 to finish with a +19.

Grant Jabenis finished his first tournament second among Huskers with a final tally of 74-71-80 to finish in 33rd place. The Omaha, Neb. native and true freshman fired his career best round of 71 on Monday.

Three Huskers finished in a tie for 41st place. Jeremy Sisson (Jr., Skaneateles, N.Y.) and Will Marshall (Sr., Elburn, Ill.) both put up a 74 (+2) in their final round while true freshman Evan McDermott (Spring Lake, Mich.) finished with an 80 (+8). McDermott was the best in the field on Par-3 holes, finishing -2 on the weekend.

Davis Johnson wrapped up play in his first collegiate action at the Purdue Individual with a final round 76 (+4) to finish with a three-day tally of 231 (+15).

The Huskers will return to action at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational and wrap up their fall season in Paradise, Bahamas Oct. 28-30.
