Rutledge (the star witness in NCAA investigation) was insubordinate and deserved to be let go despite the problems it is now likely creating for Frost

A big reason he was fired was likely the Rutgers kickoff return TD. Frost was clear he wanted the return man to be avoided. Rutledge apparently was more concerned about some type of ladder play and apparently overrided that instruction. Ladder plays can work but not as consistently as when you kick it straight to one of the best returners in the conference.

Rutledge doesn’t appear to have gotten another job anywhere else. I think he was qualified at the time with stints at Missouri and Auburn. But his career appears pretty dead right now. I would think that will further hurt Frost in the investigation as it turns into a he said / he said.
