Redemption – University of Nebraska

Another try

I spent the entirety of the next year focusing on the intricate details of hurdling and entered my fourth season with a mindset of just improving each and every day and chasing individual and school records.

As the 2023 Indoor Big Ten Championships approached, I would be lying if I said that the events of last year didn’t creep into my mind prior to that 60-meter hurdle race.

I remained steadfast in my approach, however,  and continued to focus on chasing the fastest times of my career.

After setting a new school record in the preliminary round, I could not have been more confident heading into the medal race.

My newfound mindset was paying off, and I was more determined than ever to capture that Big Ten title.

Following an on-time start and a clean race, I finally crossed the finish line as a Big Ten Champion with my teammate right behind me in second place.

I was completely overwhelmed with feelings of joy, excitement, and an incredible sense of pride.

I had spent the entire year seeking redemption and putting in countless hours of hard work to ensure a solid performance. To see that all come to fruition in front of my family and friends, on one of the biggest stages, was a feeling that I will never forget.

As I look ahead to the indoor and outdoor seasons remaining in my career, I long to capture a national title and continue to work as hard as I can to represent the University of Nebraska in the best way possible.

The sport of track and field will always have its fair share of ups and downs, but one thing remains certain. I will always learn from my mistakes and continue to turn the page and focus on the incredible future that lies ahead.
