Nebraska Baseball Hammers Minnesota 8-2, Sets Up Rematch With Iowa Thursday Night

Husker pitching and defense lead the way

Nebraska jumped out in front early and never looked back, defeating Minnesota 8-1 to open the 2019 Big Ten Tournament. Matt Waldron was solid on the mound for the Huskers, while Angelo Altavilla and Spencer Schwellenbach each knocked in three runs.

Mojo Hagge led off the game for the visiting Huskers by working a nine pitch at bat that ended in a walk. After reaching second on a wild pitch, the Huskers would get runners on the corners after a pop-up off the bat of Aaron Palensky went off the glove of center fielder Drew Hmielewski. Altavilla would clear the bases with a triple, before scoring on a sacrifice fly from Joe Acker.

And THAT is how you start a baseball game.#GBR pic.twitter.com/QLE9peZ9ak
