Iowan OL David Borchers to walk on at Nebraska

Nebraska has added to its offensive line depth with another incoming member for its 2023 recruiting class.

Eldridge (Iowa) North Scott offensive lineman David Borchers announced his commitment to Nebraska on Monday as a preferred walk-on in NU’s 2023 recruiting class.

A three-star prospect according to 247Sports, Borchers previously held a Nebraska offer under the previous staff. Borchers had visited Nebraska twice last spring, but didn’t immediately jump onto NU’s offer list under the new staff.

Borchers instead was set to join the junior college ranks at Iowa Central Community College, the program he announced his commitment to on Feb. 1. Three months later, Borchers is headed to Nebraska in the end.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound recruit will help fill out Nebraska’s depth along the offensive line. The Huskers have 14 scholarship offensive linemen at the moment  including an incoming class of five freshmen. Borchers will join Oakland-Craig’s Grant Seagren as Nebraska’s sole 2023 walk-ons along the offensive line thus far.
