Huskers to Host Mavs on Friday

Nebraska swim and dive welcomes Omaha to the Devaney Center Natatorium on Friday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m.

The Huskers (4-2, 1-1 Big Ten) look to bounce back after a loss at Kansas, 157-143, on Nov. 5. Despite dropping the dual, Shannon Stott cruised to a pair of titles in the 500 freestyle (5:00.33) and 200 butterfly (2:03.65).  Stott, a senior from St. Albans, Great Britain, has picked up five individual wins on the year, including three in the 200 butterfly. Continuing to knock seconds off, Stott clocked her best 200 butterfly time of the season against the Jayhawks.

Gena Jorgenson, Emily Haimes, Maia Hall and Sarah Barton each swam to individual wins of their own at Kansas. Jorgenson, a freshman from Aberdeen, S.D., has proven to be a leader for the distance corps, with a trio of 1,000 freestyle victories and four 500 freestyle finishes within the top two placements.

On top of being a regular in NU’s relays, Haimes (London, England) has won the 100 butterfly in her last two outings and looks to continue the streak.

Similarly, Hall (Whitby, England) has won her last two 200 breaststroke races. JoJo Randby and Sydney McCracken have pitched in solid breaststroke efforts, with Randby tabbing four top-two finishes in the 100 breaststroke, and McCracken landing a spot in the top five on eight occasions.

Barton (Huntersville, N.C.) has consistently been a top-three finisher in the 200 butterfly this season and looks to build on her first 400 IM performance of season, where she won the event in 4:29.48 at Kansas.

Lexi Kucera has been a top performer in sprints, with 10 top-three finishes this year. The junior form Hutchinson, Minn., is coming off a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100 and 200 freestyle against the Jayhawks.

Madesyn Ronquillio leads the backstoke events and has collected eight finishes in the top three between the 100 and 200 backstroke events. At Kansas, Ronquillio tabbed two runner-up finishes.

On the diving side, Kelsey Clairmont and Reagan Hinze both earned spots at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships during the first weekend of competition and continue to chip in team points with their performances on the one- and three-meter dives.

Nebraska has won all 24 matchups with Omaha, including a win on Dec. 10, 2021, 197-103. The Mavs are sitting at 3-1 on the season, with a notable win over South Dakota State, 173.5-122.5. The Huskers battled the Jackrabbits on Oct. 7 and came out on top, 151-111.

Omaha finished third at the 2022 Summit League Championships with top performances from Hailey Matthews and Caroline Gardner. Individually, Matthews finished fifth in the 500 freestyle, fourth in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 200 butterfly, while Gardner placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke, third in the 100 IM and 11th in the 200 breaststroke. Each also pitched in relay efforts during the conference meet.

The dual can be streamed through the Huskers YouTube page, while live stats are available through huskers.com and the Meet Mobile app.
