Huskers Set for NCAA Midwest Regional



The Nebraska cross country team travels to Iowa City, Iowa, for the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday, Nov. 12. The women’s 6K will begin at 11 a.m., with the men’s 10K to follow at 12 p.m.
 
The women’s field includes 38 teams competing while the men’s field features 34 teams set to compete.
 
Last Time Out
The Nebraska women placed 11th at the Big Ten Championships with 289 points. Erika Freyhof was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team after finishing 13th with a time of 21:06.8. Hannah Godwin was the next Husker to cross the finish line with a time of 22:06.3 to place 65th. Grace Pagone recorded a 74th-place finish with a run of 22:19.3. Jacquelyn Abanses and Taya Skelton finished back-to-back in 80th and 81st-place to round out the scoring for Nebraska. Abanses covered the course in 22:27.9 while Skelton finished with a time of 22:34.5.
 
The Husker men finished ninth overall with 274 points. Dais Malebana led the Big Red men with a 46th-place finish, covering the 5.2-mile course in 25:58.5. Ryan Martins posted a time of 26:01.4 to finish 48th. Bailey Timmons clocked a 26:45.2 to finish 75th, followed by Ryan Eastman in 78th-place with a time of 26:55.0. Jerry Jorgenson placed 84th and crossed the finish line with a time of 27:08.8.
