Huskers Handle Hawks in Big Ten Dual



Iowa City, Iowa – Six Huskers swam to individual titles on Friday, powering the Big Red to a 175-123 victory over the Hawkeyes in Iowa City.

Lexi Kucera collected a pair of individual wins in the 100 (51.91) and 200 freestyle (1:52.39), while also teaming up with Gabby Donahue, Emily Haimes and Giulia Marchi in the 400 freestyle relay for the win with a 3:29.33. Kucera, a junior from Hutchinson, Minn., also notched a runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly with a 57.06.

Shannon Stott led a Big Red top-three sweep in the 200 butterfly, finishing in 2:04.25. Barton clocked a 2:06.41 to finish second and Berkeley Livingston took third with a 2:08.16. Stott added a strong finish in the 500 freestyle, swimming to first with a 4:59.67. Jorgenson finished in second behind Stott to clock a 5:00.64 and finish as runner-up. The freshman from Aberdeen, S.D. cruised to a 1,000 freestyle victory with a season-best 10:11.44 and capped off her night by taking third in the 200 IM with a 2:08.76.

Molly Rosenthal finished the 1,000 freestyle in third with a 10:24.37.

Haimes and Marchi added another relay victory on the night, teaming up with JoJo Randby and Madesyn Ronquillio in the 200 medley relay (1:44.65). Haimes won the 100 butterfly in convincing fashion with a 55.72, while adding a runner-up finish in the 50 freestyle with a 24.10.

Ronquillio headlined the backstroke events, winning the 200 backstroke in 2:03.34 and taking second in the 100 backstroke with a 56.04.

Donahue took third in the 100 backstroke (58.13), while Barton pitched in a third-place swim in the 200 backstroke (2:08.84).

Maia Hall won the 200 breaststroke with a 2:20.64 and Sydney McCracken swam to second in 2:21.49. McCracken added a runner-up finish in the 200 IM, clocking a 2:07.95.

Randby finished as runner-up in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:04.84, and Marchi swam to a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 (52.57) and 200 freestyle (1:52.93).

In the three-meter dive, Kelsey Clairmont finished second with a 274.85 and Ellee Delcamp took third with a 243.85.

Nebraska will be back on the road Nov. 5, taking on the Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kansas, with events starting at 2 p.m. (CT).
