Huskers Fall to Rutgers in Final Dual



Berkeley Livingston led a top-three sweep for the Huskers in the 400 IM on Saturday morning, but it wasn’t enough as Nebraska swimming and diving fell to Rutgers, 141-211.

Livingston, a senior from Lincoln, clocked a 4:21.45 to claim the 400 IM title after winning the 200 IM (2:03.05) in last night’s session. Gena Jorgenson finished as runner-up in 4:22.86 and Sarah Barton rounded out the top-three in 4:24.43.

In the 1650 freestyle, Jorgenson raced to a victory with a career-best 16:33.70. Molly Rosenthal took third in a time of 17:01.74.

Shannon Stott and Lexi Kucera pitched in top-three finishes in the 200 freestyle with times of 1:48.50 and 1:49.90. Stott, a senior from St. Albans, Great Britain, cruised to her 10th individual title of the season last night with a 500 freestyle win in 4:45.26.

JoJo Randby finished as runner-up in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:01.66, while Caitlin Cairns placed third in the 100 butterfly with a 54.75.

Madesyn Ronquillio and Emily Haimes added a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 backstroke (56.12) and the 50 freestyle (23.69).

Kelsey Clairmont led NU on the boards, placing third on the three-meter with a 264.30. 

Nebraska finished second in both of Saturday’s relays with a team of Ronquillio, Randby, Cairns and Giulia Marchi in the 400 medley relay (3:42.81). In the final race of the day, Haimes, Stott, Kucera and  Marchi swam a 3:25.25 in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Huskers will return to the pool Feb. 15-18 for the 2023 Big Ten Championships, hosted in Ann Arbor, Mich.
