Huskers Announce Men’s Gymnastics 2023 Schedule



Head Coach Chuck Chmelka and the Nebraska men’s gymnastics team announced its 2023 schedule, highlighting three home meets at the Bob Devaney Sports Center along with the rest of the regular-season competition. 
 
Nebraska fuels the season-opener in West Point, NY to open on Saturday, Jan. 21, where the gymnasts will compete at the West Point Open. The meet is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. CT.

Subsequently, NU travels to Colorado Springs, Colo. where they contend in the Rocky Mountain Open at 6:00 p.m. CT.

The Huskers follow up to battle against the Nittany Lions on Saturday, Jan. 27 at Penn State, where they will have their first 2023 Big Ten regular-season conference meet.

“We’re really looking forward to the upcoming season!” Coach Chmelka said. “There are going to be a lot of new faces on our Husker team so it will be an exciting time for our young team! We have an outstanding home schedule with some top competitive teams so we will have to be prepared each time we compete.”

The NU gymnasts are set to return back to their roots in Lincoln, where they will make their first home appearance at the Devaney Center to compete against Michigan in a dual meet on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 6:00 p.m. CT

After taking a bye week for Nebraska, men’s gymnastics will host another home meet in a triangular against Oklahoma and Simpson College on Friday, Feb. 17 at the Devaney Center. The meet will commence at 7:00 p.m. CT.

Following the home triangular, the Huskers will collectively take a week off for the Winter Cup, based in Dallas, Texas. Several individuals will be selected to compete at the distinguished event on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:00 p.m. CT.

The Big Red will hit the road in anticipation of the Fighting Illini, where they are set to compete against Illinois on Saturday, March 10 in Champaign, Illi.

Nebraska returns home to round off regular-season competition for their final home triangular (March 17) against Greenville University and defending Big Ten champions, Ohio State, at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Postseason begins March 31-April 1, as NU heads to Columbus, Ohio where Ohio State will host the Big Ten Championships. Penn State is slated to host the NCAA Championships in State College, Penn. on April 14-15.

Nebraska returns 12 letterwinners in 2023, including 3 All-Americans (Taylor Christopulos, Donte McKinney, Sam Phillips). The Huskers added sophomores James Friedman and Zac Tiderman from the University of Iowa to their roster. Freshmen Asher Cohen, Jack Critz, Toby Liang, and Nathan York are set to make their season debut as Cornhuskers.
