Husker Wrestlers Set for U.S. Open in Las Vegas



Seven former Husker wrestlers and 10 current Nebraska wrestlers are competing at the 2023 U.S. Open this week in Las Vegas at the South Point Arena.

Current Huskers Silas Allred (97 kg), Mikey Labriola (79 kg), Dayne Morton (70 kg) and Ridge Lovett (65 kg) will wrestle in the senior men’s freestyle tournament along with former Huskers Christian Lance (125 kg), TJ Dudley (97 kg), Eric Schultz (92 kg), Isaiah White (79 kg), Collin Purinton (74 kg) and Tyler Berger (70 kg). This event is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, April 27-28.

Harley Andrews (125 kg), Lenny Pinto (86 kg), Adam Thebeau (79 kg), Antrell Taylor (70 kg) and Blake Cushing (65 kg) will compete in the U20 Freestyle bracket on Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30.

Additionally, freshman Tyler Antoniak (72 kg) will wrestle in the U20 Greco-Roman bracket and Husker alum and 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist Rulon Gardner will compete in the Senior Greco-Roman division.

The winners of each weight class in senior competition will advance to Final X on Saturday, June 10 in Newark, N.J. The winners of Final X will wrestle at the 2023 Senior World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. For the U20 division, winners will help determine the U20 U.S. World team and earn a spot in the finals of the World Team Trials on June 2-4.
