Freyhof Concludes 2021 Campaign at NCAA Championships

Senior Erika Freyhof concluded the 2021 season at the NCAA Championships on Saturday morning in Tallahassee, Fla.

In her second consecutive NCAA Championship meet appearance, Freyhof raced a time of 20:44.7 to finish 138th overall out of 250 runners. The Hamilton, Mich., native is the most recent Husker female runner to qualify for the national championship meet at least two times since Lara Crofford qualified for her fourth championship in 2010.

NC State captured the team title with 84 total points, followed by BYU with 122 points in the team standings. BYU’s Whittni Orton was crowned the individual champion with a run of 19:25.4.

Freyhof wrapped up the season at the NCAA Championships after earning All-Big Ten honors for the second season in a row with a 13th-place finish at the Big Ten Championships earlier this year. Freyhof garnered All-Region honors for the third time in her career with a 13th-place finish at the Midwest Regional and had a season-best finish of runner-up in the 5K at the Greeno/Dirksen Invite before posting back-to-back third-place finishes in the 6K at the Chile Pepper Festival and Bradley Pink Classic this season.
