Former Husker LT Brenden Jaimes earns NFL Combine ‘invite’ | Life in the Red

Nebraska left tackle Brenden Jaimes earned further recognition Wednesday when he received an official “invitation” to the NFL Draft Combine.

The only problem? He won’t actually get to go to Indianapolis for an event, nor will any of the 323 college football players around the country who got the same news.

The Combine, traditionally one of the most highly visible mile markers in the NFL Draft preparation process, is not being held in person this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, teams will conduct virtual interviews and psychological testing and a few select in-person medical exams.

That puts more emphasis on pro days on college campuses which, at Nebraska, is slated for March 23.

Jaimes, of course, was also selected to play in the Senior Bowl back in January. The Austin, Texas native started 40 consecutive games for Nebraska dating back to his freshman season in 2017. He started the first seven of the season for the Huskers in 2020 before opting out and starting his draft prep ahead of Nebraska’s final game of the season at Rutgers.
