Early 2023 Recruiting Notes

so since the 22 class is done I thought it’d be fun to get an early look at 23.

so to start out, we’re doing MUCH better than we were at this point of time last year. we’re currently 19 on 247, tied for 17 on rivals and 21st on on3.

in our currently class we have

DB Dwight Bootle (consensus 3*)

TE Benjamin Brahmer (247/rivals 3* unranked on3)

OT Gunnar Gottula (rivals 4* on3/247 3*)

not sure the hold up on on3’s ranking for brahmer and rivals OL evaluation is dramatically different than 247/on3 (for example OT TJ Shanahan is the 8th best prospect in the country on 247, while being only a 3* on 247)

Additionally, there’s serious smoke around

ATH Malachi Coleman (247 4* Rivals 3* UR on on3)

EDGE Maverick Noonan (consensus 3*)

DL Sam Sledge (247 3* 3* OL rivals UR on3)

OLB Denzel Moore (Rivals 3* UR 247/on3)

RB Dontavious Braswell (rivals 3* UR 247/on3)

EDGE Teitum Tuioti (consensus 3*) caution: most predictions about him come from before tuioti left, but on3 still has him over Oregon, so maybe he loves Nebraska/Lincoln

I’m sure there’s more I’ve missed but those have either have Nebraska on their shortlist or have crystal balls on them.

anyways, as a whole, frost has done a much better job with this class early on, especially instate. as across all three sites, Nebraska is crystal balled for the top 3 in state prospects which is a lot better than previous years. though personally, if you ask me, this may be bc there is no OPS prospects ranked yet, and that where frost has struggled in regards to instate recruiting
