Future Husker Isabelle Bourne helped the Australian Gems to a 2-1 record in the group phase of the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand earlier this week.

Bourne, a 6-2 forward from Canberra, Australia, closed pool play with 10 points and six rebounds in the Gems’ 78-59 victory over Korea on Tuesday. Bourne hit 4-of-7 shots from the field and 2-of-3 free throws.

Her performance against Korea followed on the heels of a 15-point, three-rebound, three-assist effort in an 81-71 win over Hungary on Sunday. Bourne knocked down 4-of-10 shots from the floor while going 7-for-9 at the free throw line for Australia.

Through three tournament games, Bourne is averaging 9.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist while shooting 75 percent at the free throw line in nearly 21 minutes per game. She opened the tournament with two points and six rebounds as a starter in a 79-56 loss to USA Basketball’s U19 squad.

Australia opens bracket play in the round of 16 at the U19 World Cup on Wednesday by taking on Colombia (1-2) at 2:15 a.m. (CT). If the Gems can get past Colombia, they would face either Latvia (3-0) or Mali (0-3) in Friday’s quarterfinals. The semifinals will be played on Saturday, with the championship game set for Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
