Areman Returns as Volunteer Assistant

Lincoln, Neb. – Nebraska Soccer Coach John Walker announced the naming of former Husker defender Samantha Areman as the volunteer assistant coach for the second-straight year.

Areman, a native of Firth, Neb., spent the 2021 season on the Husker coaching staff, helping the team finish the year with a three-game conference win streak. Three Huskers also earned all-conference recognition.

During the 2021 and 2022 high school seasons, Areman was an assistant coach at Norris High School, where she guided the Titans to their second state championship match in program history and a 39-3 record over two seasons.

Areman was a four-year letterwinner for the Huskers from 2011-2014, capturing two Big Ten championship titles. The 2014 Big Ten Sportsmanship award winner and recipient of the 2015 Nebraska Heart and Soul Award recorded 41 starts and 75 games played, scoring two goals and tallying five assists. Areman, who graduated in 2015, was named Academic All-Big Ten three times and was a nine-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
