14 Soccer Players Named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars

The Nebraska soccer team produced 14 Academic All-Big Ten selections, announced by the conference on Friday.

Marissa Popoola received Academic All-Big Ten status for the third time, and Audra Clark, Eleanor Dale, Gwen Lane, Reagan Raabe and Katie Stoneburner made the team for the second time.

Eight Huskers, Maggie Altman, Florence Belzile, Sami Hauk, Haley Peterson, Abbey Schwarz, Cece Villa, Sarah Weber and Jordan Zade, were named to the team for the first time. Weber highlights this group as just the second Husker athlete overall to finish this academic year with a 4.0 grade-point average.

Nebraska’s 2022 total increases its number of Academic All-Big Ten selections to 165 since joining the conference in 2011. NU has produced double-digit honorees during all seasons as a member of the Big Ten. The soccer program’s most Academic All-Big Ten selections in a season was 21 in 2021. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
