Lincoln – University of Nebraska basketball players Tanner Borchardt and Johnny Trueblood were recognized for their efforts in the classroom Wednesday, as both players were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court.

The honor is presented to players who are a junior or senior academically at an institution and posted a GPA of 3.20 or better at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year.

This is the third straight year that Borchardt has received the honor, while Trueblood was lauded by the NABC for the second straight season. The pair helped the Huskers to 19 wins and a second-round appearance in the NIT this past season.

Borchardt, who originally walked on at Nebraska, graduated with a degree in management in May. He was a four-year letterwinner and was a major contributor on Nebraska’s back-to-back NIT teams in 2018 and 2019. Borchardt set career highs in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage as a senior, capping his career with a 16-point, 13-rebound performance at TCU in the NIT. Off the court, he was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree while being named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll on seven occasions.

Trueblood was a three-year letterwinner for the Huskers and graduated in May with a degree in business administration. The Omaha native played a significant role in the Huskers’ 2019 Big Ten Tournament and NIT postseason runs, setting career highs in points, rebounds and assists during the 2019 NIT.  A two-time academic All-Big Ten selection, he was a four-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll honoree.
