Senior Maddie Simon will lead a trio of Nebraska women’s basketball graduates at spring commencement on Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.

Simon, a 6-2 senior forward out of Lincoln Pius X High School, earns her bachelor’s degree as a communication studies major from Nebraska. The only Husker senior to compete throughout the 2018-19 season, Simon played in all 30 games with 16 starts. She closed her four-year career with 709 points, 336 rebounds and 133 assists in 108 games played with 48 starts.

Off the court she was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, a five-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll recipient and a four-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. She earned a prestigious Sam Foltz Hero 27 Leadership Award in 2017 and added Nebraska’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2019.

The 2015 Nebraska Gatorade High School Player of the Year was selected to participate in the WBCA So You Want To Be A Coach Program as part of the 2019 WBCA Convention at the NCAA Women’s Final Four in Tampa, Florida.

Simon is joined at graduation by fellow 2019 WBCA So You Want To Be A Coach selection Rachel Blackburn. A 6-3 forward from Leavenworth, Kansas, Blackburn did not compete during her fourth year at Nebraska in 2018-19 because of chronic knee pain that challenged her throughout her first three seasons in the Husker program. A tremendous post defender, Blackburn appeared in 54 games with 10 starts in her two seasons on the court. She was a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.

Bria Stallworth gave the Husker women’s basketball program three spring graduates by completing her bachelor’s degree in psychology. Stallworth, a 5-6 guard from Chicago who was a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie Team at UMass in 2015-16, transferred to Nebraska and redshirted as a sophomore in 2016-17. In her only year on the court in 2017-18, Stallworth competed in 29 games alongside Simon and Blackburn to help the Huskers to the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Stallworth was a member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring of 2017 and was chosen to the 2017 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
