Palmer to Play in Portsmouth Invitational

James Palmer Jr. has been invited to participate in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, according to an NU press release. The senior will be one of 64 players in the event which will last over a four day period. Scouts from the NBA and in other professional leagues across the globe will be in attendance.

In 2017 and 2016, former Huskers Tai Webster and Shavon Shields were featured in the event, respectively. The invitational is set to begin on Wednesday. Palmer’s first game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip-off, which can be streamed at https://www.portsmouthinvitational.com/.

This past season, Palmer scored a school record season high point total of 708. He also set single season team records in free throws attempted (282) and free throws made (215) and for minutes played (1,296). During the 2018-19 season, he averaged 19.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.

Palmer, a third team All-Big 10 pick, is coming off of an appearance at the NABC Reese’s College All-Star Game. In that game, he scored 21 points, helping his East team to a win over the West.
