Nebrasketball: Huskers Land Transfer Matej Kavas

Another big man for Hoidbergs roster

Fred Hoiberg and his staff are wasting no time finding talent that can step on campus and play this upcoming season. He and his staff have pulled Matej Kavas, a graduate transfer from Seattle University, out of the Pacific Northeast and into the Great Plains. This 6’8” senior to be will not only give Nebraska another big body on the court but also a skilled shooter to boot.

Matej spent the past three seasons playing for Seattle University in Washington. While playing for the Redhawks he averaged 10.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. His big contributions came from beyond the arch where he shot 45.8%. We are told that points will be scored in Hoibergs offense and Matej should not disappoint.

He was the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the year and second team All-WAC his sophomore. He is coming off a broken shin this past season but should be healed up for his season with the Huskers. He is of Slovenian decent.
