Nebraska Baseball Defeats Nevada 9-5

Mike Waldron sharp in relief

Lincoln, NE- After a valiant comeback effort fell short Tuesday night, Nebraska got a series opening non-conference win against the Nevada Wolfpack Thursday night winning by a final score of 9-5. Mike Waldron got the win for the Huskers, their first home win against a non-conference opponent since defeating Northwestern State on March 18th.

The visitors got on the board in the first. Facing starter Reece Eddins, Nevada got a single from Josh Zamora to start the game A fly ball hit into a gusty wind landed in center field for a two out double from Mike Echavia. Echavia would score on a base hit from Dillan Shrum.

After Nebraska got nothing against Wolfpack starter Dalton Gomez in the first two innings, Nevada added to the lead. Zamora reached via a single and was bunted to second base. Grant Fennell singled to right and Zamora slide just ahead of the tag of Gunner Hellstrom to stretch the lead to 3-0.
