Nebraska football head coach Scott Frost announced on Tuesday that Cal assistant coach Tony Tuioti would be joining the Huskers staff as their new defensive line coach. Tuioti will be replacing Mike Dawson, who left for the NFL to become the New York Giant’s outside linebackers coach a couple of weeks ago.

“We are pleased to add Tony Tuioti to our coaching staff and look forward to having him and his family join us at Nebraska,” Frost said in an NU press release. “Tony has been a key part of one of the top defenses in the country the past two seasons at Cal. He will bring great energy to our staff, has a strong history of player development, and an impressive recruiting background.”

Tuioti, 42 years of age, will bring ample experience to Nebraska’s coaching staff, having spent several years as an assistant not only at Cal, but with the Michigan Wolverines, the Cleveland Browns, and his alma mater, Hawaii.

“I want to thank Coach Frost for the opportunity to be a part of the Nebraska football family,” Tuioti said. “I believe in what he is doing and the culture he is building at Nebraska and I am excited to be a part of it.”

He will receive a two year annual salary of $375,000. He has seven children, and his wife is a former volleyball player for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, the university Tuioti played football for as a defensive lineman from 1996-1999.

The press release also announced that Ryan Feder will be joining the Nebraska coaching staff as a defensive grad assistant. Feder was most recently a member of the Green Bay Packers as a Football Technology Analyst.
